Forget Vincent Callebaut's utopian visions of ecological cities. The Moroccan medina is the city of the 21st century: compact, so energy efficient, entirely carfree and completely pedestrianised! The streets and alleys are used as a playground for children or as an annex to one's living room where you can meet the neighbours for a nice chat. And as true citizens of the 21st century, Moroccans are inventive recyclers. We love these paint cans that were given a second life as flower pots - spotted in the medina of Tangiers.
